The Joy of Feathers

Chicken Inktober Day 5 ink drawing by Alecia Goodman

I was so surprised to come up with this Inktober ink drawing, really love it. The little girl makes me smile, her pure joy is plastered on her face… makes me think of my big sister. Her feathery friends are one of the many things that she loves. What brings you pure joy?

Another sketch… this little monster just makes me smile. I failed on my vampire meets gummy bear attempt. Somehow I stumbled on to this fur ball. What do you think ink or water color markers?

Starting on this windblown beauty today. It’s challenging, but I really like where it’s headed already. What do you think so far?

Early Bird

My starting point for this beautiful Saturday morning… yes the early bird does get the worm. The plan is to just keep going, lets see how far I can get today.

IF – Glow, “Glowing Spirit”

I am always amazed when I come to the close of a portrait. The spirit or personality of a piece takes life and well to put it simply, glows. This is Rudie, and if my client agrees I do believe our journey together through shadows is over. What do you think?

A Fur Ball With Character

Here is my latest portrait just started. Here is Rudie, a fur ball with character. This one is a bit tricky too, since I am missing alot of information on half the face. So I am doing some guess work based off of other reference pictures and inferring from the other more detailed side of the face. I love challenges, but some times I am a glutton for punishment. Wish me luck.

Mubusu #4, Pushing Onward Slowly

Here update #4 for Mubusu, two year old chimpanzee at our local zoo, he is still coming along at a slower pace than I would like. I want apologize for how long this is taking. I have been struggling with issues from my hand injury from the car accident a year ago or so. And more graphic design and yarn commissions (Ewoks, Houndstooth, Slouchies).

On other fronts keep your eye out for some more furry friend portraits another fluffy kitty and two dogs. YEAH!!!

Mubusu #3, Made it Out of the Rabbit Hole

Its been quite a busy summer, with trips, and commissions (mainly graphic design and hats). I finally emerged from my metaphorical rabbit hole and to find my drawing board, which I sorely missed. Here is the latest update for Mubusu, two year old chimpanzee, it is coming along though I wish it was faster. He is still up to a toddler’s antics, I am lucky enough to visit him regularly. Since its been a while I hope that I am still working the same on the piece as earlier in the project.

Chimpanzee #2, the cute face

The Genus for a Chimpanzee is Pan. Which is also the name for the mythic faerie figure who protects nature most often pictured playing a flute.

I am making some progress. His personality is really starting to come through.

Back to P.G.

I am back to P.G. hoping I can finish this soon and begin work on an adorable baby chimp. Having some difficulty getting the correct mixes of oranges and creams. I am amazed by all the colors that are browns in my pastels… some are gold, rusty or just gray. I wonder if its taking longer since its a gift whereas a commissioned piece seems to fly. The good news: It looks like I am closer than I am to finishing if you look at it from further away. So maybe I am getting close, though I still have a ways to go.
