Missing Fall

This how I wish I could wear a coat right now. Somehow it seems we have skipped Fall and dove right smack into winter. I have broken out my wool socks as it’s just too cold for me. How do you stay warm? #Inktober #Inktober2019 #coat #winter #warm #woman #ink #drawing

Light At The End

High Contrast shadows portrait of a woman by Alecia Goodman

Almost there…still behind, but still getting it done. I wanted to work something more about contrast and practice my cross hatching. I really like how it turned out. Still I need to work faster, always seem to get caught in the subtleties and details.  What do you think of the contrast and shading? I plan to revisit this one and add in some birds or maybe dark butterflies. #Inktober #Inktober2019 #dark #woman #ink #drawing #art #shadow #contrast

Rainy Day Blues

On a cold and rainy day I love snuggling up in a big cozy sweater with a cup of tea. Of course a thick soft blanket makes it even better.  You will normally find a sketchbook, book, or maybe some yarn tucked in there with me. It’s one of the ways I try to relax. What is your favorite ways to escape the rainy day blues? #Inktober #Inktober2019 #tasty #ink #drawing  #rainy #tea #woman #messybun

Barreling Through

Have you ever seen a tornado? Or at the least seen the Wizard of Oz. They can be both fascinating and frightening all at the same time.  I’ve seen many storms and am very thankful to have dodged them. One particular storm was possibly the largest I’ve seen. On April 26, 1991 I watched the Andover tornado, an F5, move across the horizon. Luckily it was miles away from my backyard. The twister left behind complete devastation and 21 people died that day. Most people who live in Tornado Alley have similar stories of dodging or surviving.

Crumbling Hideaway

A lost world, ancient decaying relic…Could you imagine having a hideaway like this? It would have been amazing…though possibly a bit scary. I’m sure that pieces of this place fall all the time. As a kid my special hiding spots were under pine trees and behind stacks of pallets. My games ranged from being an archaeologist to home cooking with mud and anything else I could find. #Inktober #Inktober2019 #ancient #ruins #fantasy

Embraced by a Ghost

I thought about this prompt “Ghost” a bit differently.  There are many instances in a day where something small reminds me of my friend Jaime or even my dad. I lost both of them to cancer. Sometimes it’s a pattern or a color or even at times just the rain. These thoughts though made me both happy and sad. Instead though I thought about something else completely, how easy it is to lose yourself whether it’s from being in so called love or in the midst of pursuing a goal. It can be so very hard to embrace your ghost and even more difficult to find yourself again. I’ve been  there and I hope to never travel that path again. Be true to yourself and love yourself it’s more important than you will ever know. #Inktober #Inktober2019 #ghost #memories #love #ink #drawing  #woman

Ocean Booty

She guards what’s rightfully hers with an unwavering eye. Never get between a woman and what she holds dear whether it be love, family, or a pirate’s booty. No matter the odds she will spite the odds. #Inktober #Inktober2019 #treasure #pirate #woman #ink #drawing #feather #buccaneer #shadow

Natural Tread

Nature is slowly reclaiming this piece of architecture and some day it will crumble completely. The ruins seem to have their own story to tell. Tread lightly and don’t disturb the ghosts of the past. #Inktober #Inktober2019 #tread #stairs #staircase #ruins #nature #ink #drawing

Warrior Woman

Her expression says it all. It’s my favorite part of this ink sketch. I may revisit it later to add more detail especially on the hands. #Inktober #Inktober2019 #sling #Ink #InktoberDay19 #warriorwoman #focus

Barnyard Misfit and Gerald’s Mom

I imagine that Gerald’s mom worries a lot about her son. He stands out from a crowd and never seems to fit in. He’s quite the misfit compared to the other birds. Hopefully he finds his people soon.

Over the summer we visited Woolaroc. I haven’t been there since I was eleven or so. In one of the animal areas there was an ostrich. He was quite curious, but not exactly friendly though my niece definitely tried to get him to warm up. #Inktober2019 #Inktober #InktoberDay18 #misfit #ostrich #emu #Gerald #mom #ink #drawing
