I put this weekend to good use, feeling industrious and productive. I am so excited, I think it might just be done. Of course that depends if my client agrees. What do you think?

I really am almost there. I’ve been fighting him a bit, his mustache and hair are being stubborn. Now to just hunker down and get it done.

Well my day has been pretty exciting, really. I have gotten a lot finished today. Not close to finishing just yet though. Is it coming along? I think its starting to…

My starting point for this beautiful Saturday morning… yes the early bird does get the worm. The plan is to just keep going, lets see how far I can get today.

I am so excited to finally have my computer and drawing desk set back up. I started this portrait. I plan on working hard and heavy on it this holiday weekend.

Not too long ago I had a blonde haired blue eyed baby boy. We went to a play group at the local hospital here. We met some wonderful moms and dads… making many friends for life. One of these moms, Sarah, let me be part of a super secret Christmas present for her husband. It was a portrait of their fur baby Charlie, a beautiful lab and so sweet too. I finished the portrait and was ready to ship it to her as they had moved, miss them terribly. I was heart broken and sad to find out Charlie wasn’t doing very well at all. As requested I held on to the portrait for an additional week while the family said their good byes. Thank you for letting me create this portrait for you. Media gray paper and charcoal pencil
I submitted this to Illustration Friday for the category of “Strong”. I believe there are strong bonds of family between friends and fur babies.
Recently we moved house… not something I recommend for the faint of heart. I love our new house and I also have my very own room for my studio with a view. Its wonderful. Right before the move I was commissioned for a challenging project. 2 dogs on a 8 x 10, black and white charcoal. It was tricky as the original photograph was low resolution. The portrait was a surprise so I have had to keep this one on the down low until it was revealed. It turned out amazing and I am so thrilled that my customers loved it especially since it was for someone I have known all my life. I will work on posting from beginning to finish so that you can see the process. What do you think of Sugar Babe and Bentley?
And here we go… As long as my customer loves this it is finished. I had a difficult time figuring out the right amount of detail, color (muted versus not), and how much to include of the sofa over all to not take away from Cole. He is just too beautiful, did not want to destroy the focal point with too much background. What do you think?
So close. Cole is almost finished. Thank goodness, I worry this one has taken longer than it should. Partly because of the detail and also because of my shortage of time with a new baby. Hopefully I can finish this weekend. Now for the big question, does it need some information of the background? If yes than I am thinking a dulled brown or gray to bring in the arm of the chair that would help place Cole. What do you think?
