My starting point for this beautiful Saturday morning… yes the early bird does get the worm. The plan is to just keep going, lets see how far I can get today.

I am so excited to finally have my computer and drawing desk set back up. I started this portrait. I plan on working hard and heavy on it this holiday weekend.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone who is a mom (fur babies and other people’s kids etc. count too), been a mom, or dads who are moms too. I know today isn’t wonderful for everyone especially for those who lost their mom, lost a baby or those who don’t have a loving mom.
Today has been a day of relaxing for me. Except for installing a kitchen faucet… oh well. Anyways reading, hooking and drawing. It’s my day off and trying to enjoy it as much as I can. What do you think of my sketch?

So finally get to post again. I have been really busy trying to get caught up sonce my surgery. My not napping toddler has been testing me too… hence the title. I tested this gorgeous slouch, the Hermosa Slouch and the Hermosa Cowl and Scarf from Laura Maes Crochet. I loved how the contrasting colors really make the pattern pop. Even Stormy Mo approved.

Due to medical issues I’ve been laid up for a couple of weeks. So I’ve been binge watching Orphan Black, Black List and anime. I don’t like sitting still though… so I’ve been working on crochet, reading and even drawing, since I can’t get to my computer just yet.
So here is one of the drawings… a full color gnome. A work in progress, pastel worked on Canson Mi Tientes white. Still not sure if it should just be the gnome or if it needs the ledge and/or background, what do you think?
I have been crazy busy with testing crochet patterns. Here are two designs I tested for TripleStitchin Custom Crochet Werks, the Teri Hood and the Teri Buttoned Cowl. Its a beautiful texture. I used both Simply Soft Caron and Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable.

Check out this amazing hat designed by Salter Stitches… the Courtney Hat which is made with a super soft Bamboo Cotton. Have you worked with it before? This was a first for me and definitely not the last.
My 2 year old has been wanting a hat or anything I’m making is supposed to be for her. So I took the opportunity to test the Fan Beanie for Crafty Ridge. It works up quickly and looks stunning in rich colors. Its also on sale for a limited time. Not to mention my little girl is very happy. I think she’s looks pretty darned cute too. What color would you make one in and who for?
I tested this cozy warm hat for Crafty Ridge, Sweater Slouch Beanie. Its like a sweater for your head. I also tested the pattern for the matching Sweater Fingerless Gloves. Of course my child loves them.
Congratulations to Crafty Ridge for reaching 4k on their page. There is an awesome giveaway so make sure you go enter. Not to mention check out all of her amazing designs.

Painted Belle Epoque Chanel ©2015 alecia goodman to present pattern by Sweet Potato Crochet Creations, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/painted-belle-epoque-chanel
I recently did a test for Sweet Potato Crochet Creations for the Battle of the Stitches. It involved the paintbrush stitch and the theme wrapped in warmth. Its a beautiful stitch, but it’s a yarn eater. I did some frogging before I figured out the stitch itself. After that it went together beautifully. This was my first ever sweater, cardi, etc. I was a bit nervous. What do you think? I think my next one will be done in a solid color like plum.
