Inktober Day 15 Bride of Frankenstein’s Monster

Inktober Day 15 I chose to venture with my own prompt, Bride of Frankenstein’s Monster. I had a lot of fun with curves and fabric, and even with hair. The drawing has a very romantic feel to it, possibly due to her costume and beauty. Frankenstein’s monster is meant to be ugly, grotesque… I’ve always loved the contrast, Beauty and the Beast. #inktober2016 #drawlloween2016

Inktober Day 9 Doll

Inktober Day 9, Doll… broken dolls can be very creepy and interesting. There’s a story to be told. Who owned the doll, where are they now and why did they leave? I drew this one more minimalistic. I didn’t want to do too much. I used a ZIG Millennium 05 ink pen.

Inktober Day 7 Pumpkin Head

Inktober Day 7 is Pumpkin… I took it further though pushing a carved pumpkin headed scarecrow. I tried to get tighter with my cross hatching on the more detailed areas and staying looser as I worked towards the outside. I enjoyed working on him. Does he make you think of a scarecrow or a headless horseman? #Inktober  #drawlloween

Gnome Inktober Day 6

It’s Inktober Day 6… Gnome. This guy took longer than the other drawings I’ve done so far. It may of been from pencil sketching first. If this trend continues, I think I might have to give myself a time limit.  #Inktober #drawlloween

Almost there…Fighting Hair

I really am almost there. I’ve been fighting him a bit, his mustache and hair are being stubborn. Now to just hunker down and get it done.

I recently worked on a rather unique t-shirt graphic for a friend. While talking about it on the phone I came up with a sketch which later morphed into the t-shirt graphic. They were looking for a t-shirt design that they could wear at running/obstacle events. I can’t wait to see how it looks on a t-shirt. What do you think?

Heart Break Charlie, Strong Bond of Family

Not too long ago I had a blonde haired blue eyed baby boy. We went to a play group at the local hospital here. We met some wonderful moms and dads… making many friends for life. One of these moms, Sarah, let me be part of a super secret Christmas present for her husband. It was a portrait of their fur baby Charlie, a beautiful lab and so sweet too. I finished the portrait and was ready to ship it to her as they had moved, miss them terribly. I was heart broken and sad to find out Charlie wasn’t doing very well at all. As requested I held on to the portrait for an additional week while the family said their good byes. Thank you for letting me create this portrait for you. Media gray paper and charcoal pencil

I submitted this to Illustration Friday for the category of “Strong”. I believe there are strong bonds of family between friends and fur babies.

Remembering Cole, RIP

My dear friend had to say good bye to her fur baby Cole yesterday. My heart aches for her, he was such a sweet lovable dog. Thankful I was able to create this beautiful portrait.

Moving Pains & the Little Big Project

Recently we moved house… not something I recommend for the faint of heart. I love our new house and I also have my very own room for my studio with a view. Its wonderful. Right before the move I was commissioned for a challenging project. 2 dogs on a 8 x 10, black and white charcoal. It was tricky as the original photograph was low resolution. The portrait was a surprise so I have had to keep this one on the down low until it was revealed. It turned out amazing and I am so thrilled that my customers loved it especially since it was for someone I have known all my life. I will work on posting from beginning to finish so that you can see the process. What do you think of Sugar Babe and Bentley?
