I want to apologize for my hiatus of the past couple of weeks. I actually went on vacation, a first in a very long time.
Yeah!!! I am so elated to be finally done with this one. The hope was to finish this one quickly, oops (someone forgot to give that memo to my toddler).
It was smaller than the portraits I completed as of late, 8.5″ x 8″ approximately. Media was Oyster Canson Mi Tientes. I think the colored paper complimented the colors in P.G. well. I had some difficulty working on such a smaller size, keeping with my usual detailed approach. I think larger pieces though challenging at the same time may be easier for detail. As with most of my work a sharp point is extremely important and with a smaller size even more so. I did find that I had to slowly build up the media and do some mixing of colors mainly through pencil application. This was tedious but the result was well worth it.
I hope that this gift goes over well; surprises and thrills all at the same time. What do you think?
Gorgeous, Alecia. Just gorgeous.
Thank you. Loving your watercolors, afternoonartist.
Thank you Alecia.
I think this is superb!
Thank you Sheila. Your barn photography, is so mysterious; love the contrast and murkiness all at the same time.
Thanks, Alecia. It was a very eerie feeling when the fog moved in and surrounded the barn and my house!
Wow!!! This is amazing Alecia! I love it!
Thank you Mary. Your third portrait of Adele is beautiful (but I have a hard time knowing its her on this one.)
You’re welcome Alecia. I agree, the third one (like the first one) doesn’t look like her, indeed I prefer the second portrait. Well it was only a try 🙂 I should draw more, if I could only find the time…
I thought the first one looked more like her. The detail you are able to accomplish in your short stints amazes me. I hope you find some more time for another drawing.
Thank you very much for your uplifting words Alecia, actually I’m not good at proportions, as I draw very rarely. Your words give me more reason to try to find the time for another drawing.
Looking forward to seeing your next wonderful work of art.
Really beautiful Alecia. What pastel pencils do you use?
Thank you mississhippi! I use a combination of Kohinoor Gioconda Soft pastel pencils and Pitt Pastel/Faber-Castell. The Gioconda is really soft and some times difficult to work with, but the color is vivid.
I use the Faber Castell Pitt pencils – will have to try and get some of the Gioconda to try. Thanks, Elaine
When you do, I would love to hear what you think about the Gioconda…
Excellent!
Wow!! This is beautiful!!!!
Thank you Jenny! Its a Christmas present for someone, hoping its still a surprise 🙂
I really love the colour, the transparence in the eyes. Great job! Love your work, it’s inspiring me.
