Fantastic Fox

Pencil sketch shy fox

Foxes have been tricksters in stories for a very long time. How many of us as kids read Roald Dahl’s “The Fantastic Mr. Fox”? I loved his books especially Witches, James and the Giant Peach, and Gremlins. This particular fox, I’ve been told by my kids it’s a baby, is rather shy. I know that Inktober is over, but I think this guy may just need to be inked. What do you think? And Inktober has spurred other sketches and commissions too.

Revisiting Inktober one last time

I really surprised myself by making it through Inktober and completing all 31 days. It was quite the endeavor. Now that it is finished, I am curious as to which drawing was your absolute favorite? Please comment  with your vote.

Inktober Day 31 Dragon, my final drawing for this October is actually a baby dragon. My son is going to love this one. He’s been wanting me to draw a dragon badly. Happy Halloween! #inktober2016 #drawlloween2016

Inktober Day 30 Bat

Inktober Day 30 Bat… I wanted to do a two color bat, that was more cute than scary. He’s all cozy, wrapped in his wings. #inktober2016 #drawlloween2016

Inktober Day 29 Sea Witch

Inktober Day 29 Sea Witch… I wanted to do something different and combine two prompts to come up with my own. A witch and a illithid, I drew this beauty. #inktober2016 #drawlloween2016

Inktober Day 28 Spirit Animal

Inktober Day 28 Spirit Animal… I really liked the flow and movement of this one. As many of you know I like drawing animals, with this one I combined fantasy with realism. #inktober2016 #drawlloween2016

Inktober Day 27 Amulet

Inktober Day 27 Amulet… I thought about how to represent a dragon tear as an amulet. The metal comes across sinuous and the jewels themselves, through pointilism come alive. #inktober2016 #drawlloween2016

Inktober Day 26 Cat

Catch  up again…I Love this kitty. It turned out so much better than I expected from the sketch. What do you think? #inktober2016 #drawlloween2016

Inktober Day 25 Mummy

Inktober Day 25 Mummy… I didn’t like the idea of drawing a traditional mummy or corpse for this drawing. I wanted this girl to be pretty, but rough and maybe a bit scared. I really enjoyed the shadow and texture of the cloth strips. The limited use of color provides a good contrast and possibly a depth of personality. #Inktober2016 #drawlloween2016

Inktober Day 24 Owl

#Inktober2016 #drawlloween2016 Day 24 Owl… Owls are nocturnal and tend to be associated with superstition, spookiness, and darkness. They are very beautiful and majestic creatures. I just had to draw one for this event. Media ZIG Millennium 05 black, Sakura Micron .25 sepia, Papermate Profile 1.4B green
